For your information, it's good to be aware that most of the cPanel-based Hosting offers on the contemporary web hosting market are furnished by a very inconsiderable business segment (as far as yearly cash flow is concerned) named reseller hosting. Reseller website hosting is a sort of a small-sized marketing segment, which generates a vast amount of different web hosting trademarks, yet providing literally the same services: mainly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because of the fact that at least 98 percent of the web hosting offers on the entire web hosting market provide strictly the same thing: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting prices are alike. Quite identical. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service almost no other hosting platform/web hosting CP choice. Thus, there is merely one single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand website hosting brand names in the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2 percent, mind that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting providers", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely named

The Hosting "variety" and the website hosting "offerings" Google reveals to all of us come down to just one solution: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different website hosting brand names. Assume you are merely a normal fellow who's not well aware of (as the majority of us) with the website development procedures and the website hosting platforms, which in fact power the various domains and online portals. Are you ready to make your hosting pick? Is there any hosting variant you can choose? Sure there is, at the moment there are more than 200,000 web hosting service providers in existence. Formally. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98% of these more than two hundred thousand unique hosting brand names in the world will offer you exactly the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, dubbed differently, with strictly the same price tags! WOW! That's how immense the diversity on the present web hosting marketplace is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple math demonstrates that to stumble upon a non-cPanel based web hosting distributor is a big strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that something like that will occur! Less than 1 in 50...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be severe with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and presumably fulfilled most web hosting business preconditions. In short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have just one domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Negative Side No.1: A foolish domain name folder arrangement

If you have 2 or more domain names, though, be extra careful not to delete entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to delete on the server, since they all are set up into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domains, please. Observe for yourself how great cPanel's domain name folder system is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you becoming nonplussed? We surely are!

Weakness No.2: The same email folder arrangement

The electronic mail folder structure on the web server is precisely the same as that of the domains... Making the very same error twice?!? The admin blokes strongly increase their belief in God when coping with the e-mail folders on the mail server, praying not to screw things up too irretrievably.

Predicament No.3: A thorough lack of domain name administration GUIs

Do we need to mention the utter lack of a modern domain name management user interface - a location where you can: register/move/renew/park or administer domains, alter domain names' Whois details, secure the Whois details, modify/create name servers (DNS) and DNS records? cPanel does not involve such a "modern" section at all. That's a considerable shortcoming. An inexcusable one, we would like to add...

Downside No.4: Many user login places (minimum two, maximum three)

What about the demand for another login to use the invoicing transaction, domain and tech support administration section? That's apart from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting company. Sometimes, on the basis of the invoice transaction system (especially built for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting provider is availing of, the avid users can end up with two additional login places (1: the invoicing/domain name management software platform; 2: the ticket support platform), ending up with a total of 3 login locations (including cPanel).

Downside Number Five: More than one hundred and twenty web hosting CP departments to grasp... swiftly

cPanel presents to your attention more than 120 areas inside the web hosting CP. It's an excellent idea to get to know each of them. And you'd better become familiar with them promptly... That's extremely arrogant on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting corporations:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mark that one as well...
